Employer Designation

The Youth Friendly Workplace Designation can benefit designated employers by:

  • Allowing employers to engage young people for future succession planning.
  • Reducing reliance and costs associated with outside recruiting.
  • Helping to fill short-term and long-term positions.
  • Helping to diversify the workforce while engaging new youth perspectives.

Designated employers are encouraged to:

  • Develop a relationship with open communication towards young employee development.
  • Allow staff to support and monitor the development of young employees.
  • Make the employee aware of any policies regarding discrimination.
  • Encourage an "open door policy" regarding conflicts.
  • Provide ongoing support, instruction and feedback to young employees.
  • Provide feedback through a short phone interview or paper evaluation following the employment term.
  • Contact the program administrator if a problem should arise.

How To Become Designated

Businesses that wish to become designated can start by reviewing the documents at the bottom of the page that will help to decide if the designation is best for you.

Once the documents are reviewed and the business would like to proceed, please contact the Program Administrator to complete the designation.

Once a business is designated, a window decal and usage of the logo for display will be provided. Designated businesses are also asked to advertise positions on www.saskjobs.ca where they will be highlighted with the designation logo.
